About Us

Bullitt County Martial Arts Academy is more than a school—it's a sanctuary where martial arts serve as a philosophical journey toward inner peace, resilience, and profound personal growth. As a premier Black Belt School specializing in MMA, Grappling (Jujutsu / Gojutsu), and Traditional Martial Arts, we blend rigorous physical training with the timeless wisdom of Budo—the Warrior Way—to guide our students on a transformative path.

The Essence of Budo and Our Philosophy

At the heart of Budo lies the acceptance of life's inherent challenges. Our philosophy, inspired by Hanshi Michael Crump’s teachings, acknowledges that suffering is not an end but a tool for awakening. We teach that focus and discipline are learned behaviors, cultivated through mindful practice and deep understanding. By reframing suffering as a catalyst for growth, students learn to replace bad habits with positive ones, stripping away negative baggage. This process frees them to truly express themselves, irrespective of external conflicts.

Our Mission

We believe that martial arts are not just about mastering techniques—they are about transcending personal limitations and embracing the warrior’s virtues: righteousness, courage, compassion, respect, integrity, honor, loyalty, wisdom, and self-control. At Bullitt County Martial Arts Academy, each class is a step toward self-mastery, where every punch, kick, and grappling move becomes a mindful effort to push beyond yesterday’s boundaries. Our mission is to help students discover how to live gracefully, face adversity with courage, and create a balanced, healthy life.

Tisha Crump’s Journey: A Testament to Transformation

Our story is deeply rooted in Tisha Crump’s personal journey. In 2017, Tisha began practicing martial arts seeking confidence and a deeper understanding of herself. Along the way, she learned that true strength comes not from avoiding suffering but from embracing it as part of the path to growth. Guided by the philosophy of Budo and the unwavering support of her husband, Hanshi Michael Crump, Tisha achieved her black belt in early 2023. This milestone was not merely a technical achievement but a profound transformation that inspired the creation of Bullitt County Martial Arts Academy. Their vision was to share this life-changing experience with others, helping them overcome challenges, shed negativity, and express their true selves.

The Transformative Power of Our Programs

Every class at our academy is an opportunity to cultivate focus, discipline, and resilience. Through our thoughtfully designed programs, students learn to:

  • Understand suffering as a natural part of existence and use it as a tool for personal growth.
  • Replace negative habits with positive behaviors through disciplined practice.
  • Embrace the virtues of the warrior—integrity, courage, wisdom, and self-control—to navigate life’s challenges gracefully.
  • Unlock a freedom of self-expression, unburdened by external conflicts, by shedding negative baggage.

Our curriculum, rooted in the essence of Budo, serves as a guide for students of all ages—whether they seek health and fitness, mental clarity through meditation, or mastery of combat skills.
